The registration for the 51st NITP National Conference and Annual General Meeting is now open and we are happy to inform you all that this year, alongside the traditional payment system, we are launching an online payment option for the conference. This is part of our commitment to adopting modern technologies to provide quality service to our members. Also, with COVID-19 still lingering, we are determined to make sure our members are safe and avoid being exposed through walking into banking halls to make payment.
In compliance with the provisions of the constitution of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) 2010, particularly part IV section 6.0, Part VI section 11 and other National Council’s approvals in connection with electoral matters, I have been directed by the Chairman, Nomination and Election Committee for 2020/2021 elections, TPL. This is an announcement that the NITP 2020 National Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) will take place in October 2020. As the lockdown has begun to ease, and some of the NITP and TOPREC activities gradually taking place, the Management Committee has also taken steps, while still studying the situation, to work on the possibility of hosting a physical National Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM) in view of the fact that this is an election year. The sad news of yet another building collapse has reached the National Secretariat of the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners. While similar incidences are numerous across the country, the reported collapse on Thursday April 30 , 2020 of an eight storey building under construction at Yar Adua Drive, New Owerri when the nation is battling the COVID 19 pandemic is very disheartening.
