Call for Memoranda for the Preparation of the NITP 10 years Strategic Development Plan
CALL FOR MEMORANDA FOR THE PREPARATION OF THE NIGERIAN INSTITUTE OF TOWN PLANNERS TEN (10) YEAR STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT PLAN.
I n pursuance of the advancement of the Town Planning profession, the Nigerian Institute of Town Planners (NITP) was established in 1966. Since the establishment of the Institute it has developed tremendously. However with cognizance to the ever dynamic nature of the environment and the planning profession prime position among the built environment professions, the National Council led by the National President, Tpl. Lekwa Ezutah, FNITP approved the preparation of a Ten (10) Year Strategic Development Plan for the NITP. A committee was set up to anchor the preparation of the plan..
The Strategic Development Plan is to identify existing challenges and make suggestions towards ameliorating them and propose initiatives towards the advancement of the Town Planning profession particularly in the light of contemporary development and the future. The primary areas which the committee will address among others are outlined below:.
- 1. Current State of the NITP.
- 2. Advancement of public awareness
of the importance of the living and
working environment.
- 3. Advancement of town planning
education, training, research and
practice environment.
- 4. Dissemination of town planning
information through conference,
seminars, meeting, exhibitions and
publications.
- 5. Establishment and enforcement of
professional practice and conduct
for town planning practitioners.
- 6. Protection of practice and promotion
of welfare of members.
- 7. Acquisition and disposal of landed
properties and other assets and
raising funds.
- 8. Acceptance of gift, endowment or
bequest and carrying out any trust
attached.
- 9. Institutional arrangement.
- 10. Strategic positioning of town
planning among the built
environment professions.
- 11. Investment and funding.
- 12. International affiliations and
relationships.
- 13. Monitoring, evaluation and review
of the strategic development plan.
- 14. Roles and responsibilities of the
national, state chapters, study group
and standard committees.
- 15. Any other suggestions.
With cognizance to the notable contributions of members to the advancement of the Town Planning profession, the committee hereby invites memoranda on the above from members of the NITP.
